About the artist

Sharon Tressler

Born in Papua New Guinea, her missionary family returned to New Zealand when Sharon was a young child and she now resides in southern New Zealand. Sharon’s love for art developed at an early age. She received her first art award at the age of 14 and held her first exhibition in Apia, Samoa, in 1999, selling 21 of her 29 pieces in a single afternoon. She paints in both oils and acrylics.

Although Sharon had worked as a full time artist, she laid down her brushes for a number of years as she put her attention into raising her two sons. In 2015, after having multiple dreams of being back at school and missing her art classes, she decided it was time to pick those brushes back up again.

Sharon’s work is mostly inspired by conversations with “The Master Creator” and depict images from nature that express a spiritual reality. She is passionate about inner healing, wholeness, hope and finding beauty and these are themes that appear frequently in her work.
